Radikal Guru (PL) // D-Fuze // Low Freq // ZO
14th of March // Expirat Club

Radikal Guru (Moonshine Recordings)
One of the brightest lights of the roots-influenced underground community, Poland born Mateusz Miller has pioneered a compelling and unique fusion of sounds that encompass dub, reggae and dubstep under his Radikal Guru moniker. Inspired by an appreciation of sound system culture, his music has become synonymous with suffocating degrees of dread bassweight, vibrant and eclectic palettes of tone, and varying energy levels that cater for both dancefloor focused ruckus and for more meditative listening.
Heavily influenced by the dub music originators like King Tubby and Scientist, Matt first gained worldwide acclaim and recognition through a string of killer remixes and vinyl releases on London’s leading reggae/dubstep imprint Dubbed Out Records, before forming a creative partnership with fellow label Moonshine Recordings where he has gone on to cement his reputation as one of the strongest proponents of the scene.
His Moonshine discography boasts highlights that include his debut LP ‘The Rootstepa’ and the mighty ‘Dread Commandments’ 12” or his second LP ''Subconscious'' that includes dancefloor killers like Stay Calm ft. YT or Warning ft. Echo Ranks. In 2016 he released his third studio album ’Dub Mentalist’ including more exciting collaborations and soundscapes.
Not only a talented producer, Matt is also a fine selector and deejay, conveying his passion for music through DJ sets that pay homage to the sound and culture’s rich history as much as they showcase the freshest cuts of sonic innovation from himself and his contemporaries. He has hit spots all around the world as far afield as Russia or South Africa to assault sound systems with bass-fuelled beats and positive vibes, including recent gigs in the US, Mexico and Australia.

Ishan Sound (UK) / Kaya Foundation Crew / ZO / Alienmade
6th of December / Expirat
Starting 23:00 hours / Ticket: 30 lei

We are happy to announce our last monthly residence for this year in club Expirat will focus on a journey into bass music. From roots reggae to dubstep this session is dedicated to the low frequencies and the culture behind the sound.

Ishan Sound

Bristol based DJ and producer, part of the Young Echo collective, Ishan Sound has helped sculpt an array of music that gleefully exists on the more experimental edges of music, but his solo output under the Ishan Sound name has quite a specific and direct intention. Piled full of low end then riddled with interesting melodies and chunky percussive elements his music belongs in dark rooms, played loud on muscled soundsystems that can replicate the dense sense of dread that he writes and captures. Ishan Sound has released music on labels such as Young Echo, Peng Sound, Zam Zam and Tectonic.

Kaya Foundation Crew

Kaya Foundation is one of the first reggae groups established in Romania. Starting its activity in 2008, Kaya always pushed the reggae movement forward through their dances, music selection and their dedication to conscious roots reggae and dub music. In 2009 Kaya built Kogaion Sound System, the first local sound. Pushing the militant rockers rhythm even further, Kaya became an emblematic name for the Romanian scene of reggae music. For nine years now, they kept organizing dances and build strong communities around their annual festival: One Love.

Alienmade

Recently signed at the Romanian label Dirty Beats with a powerful remix for High Kulture & Unda Sinista's 'Bass Era', made him produce more music and collaborate with different promising dubstep artists such as Kodama or Ego Death. Slamming in with dark, minimalistic dub-induced sets, he is keeping his journey alive and diverse, providing a cracked window into the deep space of 140 bpm music.

Black Rhino pres. Egoless Live (HR) / 08.11

Thursday 08.11. 23:00 hours
After the Implant Pentru Refuz concert
King Size drinks all night long

Egoless was born in 1984 in Croatia (Yugoslavia) when (after Tito's death) the country was slowly preparing for a bloodshed which cumulated in the beginning of the 90's, exposing the worst in human beings, turning the thieves and the wicked ones into moral authorities who took over the country to this day. From an early age music was an escape from harsh reality that was surrounding him, and very soon, after discovering punk & rock around 1997 he started his first band, and did his first gigs from an age of 14.

After moving to the capital (Zagreb, where he resides to this day) he instantly got hooked to dub, reggae and especially jungle music, through Goldie's 'Timeless' album and shortly after that in 2002 started getting into music production doing dub, reggae, jungle and some experimental music while still playing and touring with various bands as a keyboardist, guitarist or sound engineer.

In 2009. he started the Egoless project with 'No Ego, No Problems EP', but quickly started combining dub and dubstep music into one organic whole, while keeping both foundations of styles intact, utilising old Jamaican dub techniques and hardware (analog mixer, tape, tape echoes, spring reverbs, instruments). In the same spirit he is performing live utilizing the same techniques.

After 2012 and his first vinyl release and recognition, he never looked back and dedicated himself solely to the project. After countless successful vinyl & digital releases and remixes for highly respected labels in the scene such as System, Scrub a Dub, Zam Zam, Lion Charge, Blacklist and gigs, festivals and tours all around the UK, Europe, Australia & New Zealand, Canada and Russia he is signed and set to release music on Mala's influential Deep Medi Musik label and continues to play gigs all around.

It’s been a long road for London-bred Loxy, aka Andrew Campbell, who has played a seminal part in every step of drum & bass’ evolution over the last two decades. He’s one of few artists that has continued to influence all elements of the drum & bass movement from the underground up, with no signs of stopping. Keeping his face in the background, but a strong, characteristic sound in the front, for someone like Loxy it’s never been about image, fame or hype – it’s only the music that speaks.

Though his productions were gaining his name more attention, Loxy’s DJ-ing never slowed up – growing from strength to strength, he always stayed dedicated to the craft. As Loxy puts it himself: 'I would always consider myself a DJ first and producer second, but making tunes to play was what got me motivated to pursue it more'.

As Loxy and Ink came across like-minded artists at drum & bass events, they befriended the likes of Digital, Spirit, Source Direct, Photek, Peshay and Kemistry and Storm. When the scene-defining Blue Note club opened in the mid-90s, it was the latter two DJs that suggested to Metalheadz leader Goldie that Loxy should be the resident. 'The rest is history', Loxy tells, which couldn’t be further from the truth: his name was locked in the drum & bass archives from then on, alongside the Blue Note’s legacy, even holding down the record as the only artist to DJ a whole night at the Sunday Sessions.

Access to the conference is free, based on email registration. Register free by sending a confirmation email with your complete name at info@blackrhinomusic.ro (only one person per email can be registered).

Our fourth conference is bringing under the spotlight the world of online radio stations. We will discuss with our guest speakers the beginnings of online radios, how a station is managed, the projects such a platform can develop and the value they add to the music communities around them.

♬ ♬ Orpheu de Jong:
The man born Orpheu de Jong is a Red Light Radio co-founder celebrated for the breadth and depth of his taste and the passion with which he plays. Closely linked with the acclaimed Dekmantel crew for who he is in house designer, Orpheu is a big but back stage player on his native scene, and is now rightfully making a mark on the wider world.

Based in Amsterdam but very much with one foot in the cosmos, Orpheu The Wizard has been surprising and delighting people with his unconventional sets for years and years...

The Dutchman has done so with little fanfare before now, because his skills have simply spread through the mouths of those astounded by what they have heard when they see him play. It’s hard describe what goes down in one of his sets, the distinguished selector is not afraid of taking left turns, serving up curveballs and doing the unexpected.

Taking real pride and joy in unearthing and sharing his usually musical treats, Orpheu The Wizard is musically curious and invites his audiences to be so too. As versatile as he is eclectic, you are as likely to be floating in outer space one moment as you are rooted to a beat the next.

♬ ♬ David O'Donnell:
David O'Donnell is a creative producer and director with a vast experience in radio stations. He produced Gilles Peterson shows on BBC Radio 1 Xtra, BBC Radio6 Music and BBC Radio1; he also produced shows for Red Bull Studios Radio.
Until last year David was Managing Director for Worldwide FM radio, planning and implementation of the design, strategy, staffing and launch of the station, from brand identity and web/app development, through to on-air scheduling and talent acquisition.

Since its launch in September 2016 he was managing a growing team of staff, overseeing the day to day running and continued expansion of Worldwide FM from the London headquarters, liaising with teams in LA and Tokyo.
